It’s been three years since Kev Pearson’s adventure across space-time with the 2025 quarter and the FCA. The side effects of temporal displacement have left him with a dangerous painkiller addiction. Pearson’s also reunited with his long-lost love, Becca Saccarelli, feeding an entirely different habit.
Krissie Ecklie declared Pearson would see her again, but in her younger form, before she and Ryan Capesseo disappeared in 2006 after an accident involving Brüder-4’s gravity drive.
In November 2009, younger Krissie arrives with Pearson’s son, Spencer, who’s now thirty-five. They escaped from 2035, seeking refuge in the past. Spencer asks his father about Becca. Who was she? Why was she always a secret? Why was she so important? Pearson tells them about Becca, how they fell in love, how she helped him move past Bryan Wald’s death, and how their affair tragically ended, leaving him brokenhearted and forever changed.
The Corporation, still stalking Pearson for the 2025 quarter, arrives and abducts him. At a hidden base off the Maryland coast, Corporation mouthpiece Dan Wilson believes they can use Brüder tech to conduct an experiment. He wants to force Pearson to send his tethered consciousness to inhabit his nineteen-year-old body in 1991. He’ll have seven seconds to retrieve the encrypted data from the coin’s edge. If Pearson doesn’t comply, Dan will have Becca killed.
